Where are you from?
I was born and grew up in Tampere, moved to the US in 2008 and lived over there for 7 years. Moved back to Finland in the Fall of 2015.
What would you like to tell about yourself?
I am a very social and active person, who enjoys working on different kinds of projects and meeting new people! I suppose I am an odd ball for a Finn, since I smile and talk a lot in pretty much any situation. My educational background is in business, but I have worked mostly with website development over the past years. Moving back to Finland, I started working as a sales person for Agendium Oy. Outside of work, I love doing sports and am a passionate hockey fan! And just like in anything else in life, I like learning new things and the latest addition to my hobbies was orienteering couple of years ago.
Why is Tampere the best place to live?
Tampere combines all the positive things that comes with living in urban area. It is big enough that it feels like you live in a real city, but it is small enough not to be suffocating and overly crowded. It has also become a lot more international over the past decade.
Tell about your professional activities?
I am currently working with a startup called Agendium Oy. We have a web-based service, where companies can modernize their team work by creating virtual workspaces for their teams and projects. Before Agendium, I was working as a web developer.
What is your involvement in international activities?
I was one of the volunteers in Twinkle 2015 working on the website updates and social media efforts. During the Twinkle 2015 project, we created a very tight group of international talents that are actively working on other projects together as well.
What is your mission as a Tampere - All Bright! Ambassador?
Having been a foreigner in another country myself, I started realizing the importance and the challenges of adjusting to a new culture and environment. Ever since the return to Finland became a possibility, I wanted to be somehow involved in helping people to adjust to the Finnish culture and feel like they are at home. In my opinion, the best way to make Tampere an attractive place for international businesses and talents is to make sure the people that are currently here, feel that they are part of the community and enjoy living here. So, my personal goal is to help people in this process in whatever way I can.
What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?
Anything is possible for Tampere. It is a safe place to live with friendly people and active business life. The city itself is constantly evolving due to different development projects. Also, Tampere has a lot of innovative startups that are creating the most amazing products! There is a remarkable potential for them to make Tampere even more successful internationally.
