Where are you from?
I was born in Helsinki and lived my childhood in Lahti.
What would you like to tell about yourself?
I moved to Tampere in 2001 and started my studies at the Tampere University of Technology (TUT). I lived in Tampere about nine years and moved to Germany end of 2010. Now, together with my wife, we recently moved to Switzerland. I also like traveling and exploring new things. On my free time I do different sports like snowboarding, cycling and playing floorball.
Why is Tampere the best place to live?
I think Tampere has everything in nice and compact area. It’s a great place to study and live. Universities bring lots of students to the city, which also gives Tampere nice international feeling. You can find many things to do or shop, and also if you are keen on being on the nature, it is easily reachable. Lakes next to the city make Tampere very beautiful during the summer time.
Tell about your professional activities?
I have been working 10 years in Nokia and HERE combined. First four years I worked in Nokia R&D site in Hervanta, and since November 2010 in Germany. When Nokia sold its mapping and location business to German Automotive OEMs, I became part of HERE. In my career I have been working closely with the software testing, test automation, and quality assurance. Currently I am leading a software quality assurance team, which supports that our customer projects meet both product and process quality requirements. September 2016 I continued my studies at the ETH Zürich in Switzerland.
What is your involvement in international activities?
Both Nokia and HERE are very international places to work. For example we have more than 50 nationalities working at the HERE Berlin office. During past years I have met many colleagues, customers, and also got friends around the world. I am also very excited to learn what new opportunities Zürich has to offer.
What is your mission as a Tampere - All Bright! Ambassador?
As I am a student again, I would promote Tampere as a great place to study and live. Also with my own experience I know that TUT gives you high quality education that allows you to work in the international companies. I also believe that with good education, and continuous research and improvement, we are able to grow both personally and economically.
What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?
Due to its location Tampere has potential for international students and tourists. By enhancing accessibility to and from Tampere, it could be even more attractive for investors. With co-operation from both universities and companies in Tampere region, are and will be able to create innovative, high quality and specialized products and services which are competitive in a global market.
