Tampere Ambassador: Nitesh Kaushik

Where are you from?

I am from India. Currently I live in Dehradun Valley, it’s a beautiful place surrounded by the Himalayas and many popular hill stations.

What would you like to tell about yourself?

I am an optimistic person with great a survival rate under stress. I try to have fun in all situations and savor the moments. I love travelling and I am passionate about entrepreneurship. I love building businesses from scratch. I like to meet new people and engage in conversations, sports activities and adventure. I like to go on road trips (motorcycle and car both).

What makes Tampere special for you?

I have great memories from Tre. Finnish education and my experiences in Tre have played a major role in shaping my personality. I would love to come back and work at TUT at some point in the future.

Tell about your professional activities?

I run a consulting company here in India – we transform businesses and take them towards better performance, resilience and strong fundamentals. We usually work with three kind of businesses a) sick or dead businesses, we revive them, b) small businesses who want to grow to the next level, we take them to the next level, c) entrepreneurs who want to build/start something from the scratch. I work with the state government of Uttarakhand on start-up and small business policies. I work with various NGOs, in an advisory capacity and I am also the Co-chair of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Uttarakhand Chapter, Start-Up Task Force. I am also dedicating a part of my time towards evangelizing entrepreneurship among young students and professionals.

What is your involvement in international activities?

I am involved in setting up various workshops, seminars, exposure visits, trade visits and delegations – both inbound and outbound. In addition to this, my company actively scouts for export-import possibilities for our clients.

What is your mission as a Tampere - All Bright! Ambassador?

As a Tampere – All Bright! Ambassador, I will focus on the knowledge products of this region. It’ll be my mission to promote educational programs, exchange programs, exposure visits, collaborative projects and connect interested parties from both the countries, so that they can play on their strengths and work together.

What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?

To me Tre is a great place to live and work, plus the presence of TUT, UTA and TAMK provides a solid foundation for a knowledge economy. I think knowledge exports and entrepreneurship will provide the fuel for the development of this region in the future.
