Where are you from?
I was born in Mozambique while it was still a Portuguese colony. During its independence we (my family) moved to Portugal but six years later we moved back to Africa but this time it was South Africa, where I lived up until 2009 when I then moved to Finland.
What would you like to tell about yourself?
I am a fun loving person who enjoys socializing and being around people. Some have described me as serious looking but please don’t be fooled by the looks. I am a humorous person who loves to laugh and enjoy life. I also have a sensual and spiritual side where I draw lots of inspiration and motivation from.
Why is Tampere the best place to live?
There are few places in the world today where you can enjoy freedom and peace surrounded by the beauty that nature has to offer. Lots of places offer one of the above but few offer all. This is the reason I love Tampere. Another reason is that I love being part of positive changes and Tampere is busy going through that at the moment.
Tell about your professional activities?
I consider myself a business person. I have been an employer and employee. I have also had lots and lost it all, so basically I have gained most of my wisdom through putting myself out there and living life to the fullest. I enjoy meeting new people and cultures through doing business increasing my network as well as making some great friends along the way.
What is your involvement in international activities?
I work for a company called Haarla Oy and my title is Business Development Manager. I am responsible for the opening and development of business in the African continent but not restricted to it.
What is your mission as a Tampere Ambassador?
My mission is to actively promote the City to all and one that I come in contact with and also to invite them here. My greatest wish is to be of assistance to anyone who has a desire to visit Tampere or for that matter lives here already and needs advise. Having come from abroad, I can identify with the challenges foreigners can face when entering Finland whether for personal or business reasons. I can’t claim to know the Finnish culture in its totality but understand enough to act as a bridge for newcomers.
What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?
Tampere has the potential equivalent of a newborn child. There are no limits to what can be achieved if the powers at be, have open minds and believe in it. In the big scheme of things, few people know its existence so as we actively promote it I see people valuing what most of us take for granted here and thus begin investing by moving business here or just investing in their quality of life.
