Tampere Ambassador: Ruixue Chen

Where are you from?
I am from Hangzhou, China. And I moved to Shanghai for career pursuit after grew up.

What would you like to tell about yourself?
I lived and studied in Tampere for six months, thanks to the Eramus+ program. During the short period, I have been exposed to the city, people and educational atmosphere which gave me a fascinating impression of a Nordic place. I am still alert to the opportunities in career and further study in Tampere hoping that I can return to the city soon.

Why is Tampere the best place to live?
Judging from my own experience, Tampere is peaceful, friendly and vibrant. Besides, Tampere is a green city with extraordinary winter scenes when everywhere is covered by snow.

Tell about your professional activities?
I was a program coordinator in the Asia Pacific Center of a private Mexican university, mainly assisting in the management of the international exchange and visiting programs between the Mexican campuses and the Chinese partner universities. Other than this, I had experience in foreign trading, international projects bidding, teaching Chinese to westerners, teaching English to Chinese students, and Chinese educational policy analysis.

What is your involvement in international activities?
Currently, I am a student in the international master program. Then, my answers to the previous question described my professional involvement in the fields of international education and international business.

What is your mission as a Tampere - All Bright! Ambassador?
I will work to advocate more collaborations between Tampere and Yangtze River Delta region in China in the fields of education, tourism and business. I will disseminate information and opportunities of Tampere about travelling, studying, and business via posting public blogs, sharing photos and articles in my social media channels.

What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?
Tampere is great in many aspects like quality education, internet technology, environmental protection. Sadly, the city lacks of international recognition. Confronting this reality, efficient international promotion and the strategy of marketization could be employed. I wish that the international competitiveness of Tampere be improved and the city be well-known to the world in the near future.
