Where are you from?
What would you like to tell about yourself?
I was born in Beijing, China in 1960s. Engineering physics and material science was major in my university time in 1980s. In 1997 I got my Doctor of Technology degree in microelectronics from TTKK. My connection with Finland started in 1991 when I came to the country as a post-graduate student. I worked in VTT semiconductor lab from 1991 to 1995 as a research scientist, and then I had worked for Nokia Mobile Phones from 1995 to 2014. My last five years with Nokia were spent on innovative product creation. Since then I have been heading HT-NOVA LTD which is a hi-tech company in security business sector.
Why is Tampere the best place to live?
Beautiful summer, mild winter, lots of lakes and woods, easy city, lots of active engineering activities, and lots of talent people.
Tell about your professional activities?
R&D management: with a few other colleagues as one of founders we created Nokia's Beijing R&D center which was the largest globally for Nokia in 2014.
Product innovation: from 2009 to 2014 I had spent 5 years to head product innovation in Nokia Mobile Phones. In this period we created many cool concepts, and I learned what the disruptive innovation is about.
CEO: HT-NOVA's turnover in 2016 will be over 10m EURO.
What is your involvement in international activities?
Not much. But HT-NOVA has biz partners in Finland, Germany, USA.
What is your mission as a Tampere - All Bright! Ambassador?
Make new friends.
What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?
More actively involved in international activities as a hi-tech star town.
