Where are you from?
I am from Varese, a city in north of Italy, situated between Milan and the Swiss border. I used to say I am from an area with many lakes (there are 7 lakes), but after I moved to Tampere and I got to know how many lakes Finland has, I cannot say it anymore!
What would you like to tell about yourself?
My heart is from the South of Europe, but since I was a kid I was fascinated by the North. I got the opportunity to move to Tampere during my studies in university and I immediately fell in love with the city, the way of life and the surroundings. I was supposed to stay here only six months, but I've lived in Tampere since 2011.
What makes Tampere special for you?
In my opinion Tampere is special for many reasons.
It’s a small/big city: it presents opportunity of a big city, but in a very friendly and familiar environment. I like that the city centre has so much to offer, but at the same time in winter you can step out of your door with skis on your feet and immediately be in the wild forest by yourself.
I also love the fact that Tampere is international and open minded thanks to univerities and different jobs that attract people from all over the world.
Tell about your professional activities.
In Tampere I had the opportunity to have many different work experiences, that go from teaching in the University of Applied Science to working in a cafeteria. Each of them gave me somehting and helped me to grow as person and like Tampere citizen.
I now work in tourism, my field of study, and I cooperate with some Italian tour operators and Finnish tourism companies.
What is your involvement in international activities?
In my opinion in Tampere there are many possibilities for international people. At this moment I am involved in an active facebook group called “Tampere foreigners (and not)”. I am the administrator of this group and the idea is to provide useful information about Tampere and Finland to foreigners (and not!). The group is big and members are very active; we always manage to give good information and advice to people who ask for it.
I have to say I am very proud of how this group works!
What is your mission as a Tampere Ambassador?
I think that my job in tourism already makes me a sort of Tampere Ambassador. My mission is to improve my knowledge of Tampere and be able to share it with the greatest number of people possible, so that everybody can get to know this lovely and active city, and the potential that it has to offer.
What potential do you see for Tampere?
Tampere is active, always changing and experimenting new things. I think that it offers very dynamic fields for new enterprises.
In my field I am sure that Tampere really has a lot to offer and can be an interesting destination for tourists not only for one day, but for a longer period. There is a peculiar history here that only Tampere has, there is nature very close and many possibilities to enjoy it.
Tampere is a modern city that is growing fast. Its population is growing too, and this means there is a need and demand for new services, and so also more opportunities for new enterprises.
