Tampere Ambassador: Mina Kostova

Where are you from?

I came to Finland in August, 2016 from a small, beautiful country, called Bulgaria. I was born and lived in the capital, Sofia.

What would you like to tell about yourself?

I’m a passionate learner and adventurer with innate curiosity. I define myself as an active and skilful person, with eagerness to enrich my potential. I believe that life is a constant change and we have to be brave, to challenge ourselves and never stop exploring the outer and the inner world.

What makes Tampere special for you?

Tampere is a new beginning for me. I came here just with a suitcase neither knowing anyone nor the language, and started to rebuild my life. For me it is an amazing, challenging and great adventure.

What I really like about Tampere is its atmosphere. It is a big city but also so cosy. Every kind of services are well provided and accessible. A lot of green areas surround the neighbourhoods and life is close to the nature. The most exciting thing is that in the city there are so many hidden, beautiful and interesting places. I can always find something to surprise me.

Tell about your professional activities?

I dare to dream big and naturally follow my dreams. My professional experience is wide ranging from entrepreneur to executive director. I have worked in various fields such as trade, European projects, the web, construction and real estate, and also as consultant and freelancer. This has enabled me to acquire different qualities and competencies and to generate experience that I would like to enhance and apply in the future.

What is your involvement in international activities?

I am regularly attending language cafe, organised by the Red Cross. I also take part in some of the activities of JCI United, which is an internationaly oriented organisation, based in Tampere.

What is your mission as a Tampere Ambassador?

I believe Tampere is a great place for business so I would like to connect companies from Bulgaria and Tampere helping them to find new possibilities for business and development.

What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?

Tampere is a fast growing, developing city with ambitious projects and universities, offering high quality education. I would like to see Tampere as bright and popular as when it used to be called “Manse”, but this time, instead of an industrial center, a hub of knowledge and innovation.
