This is what makes Donna Kivirauma happy: seeing people across borders cheering each other and knowing she has done her share in making it possible.
Donna is the CEO and co-founder of a Tampere-based start-up TeamUp founded in 2012. The company specializes in sponsorship activation and fan engagement, and a lot of multicultural cheering is already happening in their social media community TeamUp.
– It is a new kind of ad-free platform where talents, fans and sponsors can connect, form relationships and be part of something bigger, Donna says.
TeamUp as a company is truly international. At the moment (spring 2015) there are people from 10 different countries working for the project, and that is a constant source of fresh ideas.
– Surely, if you want a global product, you must have an international team to ensure that you are developing it according to the global values, Donna says.
TeamUp is now heading for US market, but Donna tells it will always be a Finnish company, "made in Finland" with headquarters in Tampere, "the right city to do this". She moved to Tampere from US in 2009, and is happy to see the region coming alive with international flare.
Donna is of course involved in this change in many ways. Being a member of the Twinkle team, for example, because for her it is only natural to volunteer and give back to the society. A chance to strengthen the English-speaking professional networks doesn't hurt, either, since it promotes the cooperation of local companies and international talents.
– I know Finland can do better and export more. I want to be part of that, and Twinkle is a way to do it, Donna explains.
